Morehouse General Hospital Announces Hire of New Chief Executive Officer

Morehouse General Hospital Board of Directors and staff are excited to announce the hire of a new Chief Executive Officer, Elmore Patterson. Patterson will begin his role as CEO on Thursday, July 25, 2024, and his first day onsite will be Monday, July 29, 2024.

Patterson is a highly dedicated and self-motivated healthcare executive with over 20 years of experience. He is a servant leader and has successfully managed and directed hospital operations and resource management initiatives. He is skilled in areas such as budget and cost management, process improvement, and team coaching and mentoring.

He has held several leadership positions throughout his career. From April 2022 to October 2023, he served as Chief Executive Officer at Ochsner Health System, Morgan City, LA, where he effectively managed overall daily operations and developed a five-year strategic plan. From January 2020 to April 2022, he was Hospital Administrator at Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas, where he oversaw two critical access hospitals and a long-term care facility.

Patterson’s other professional experiences include roles as Executive Director at Diversicare Inc. of Montgomery, Chief Executive Officer and Nursing Home Administrator at Greene County Health System, and Director of Facilities and Operations at Adventist Health Care System.

He began his career with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as an administrative fellow and later as a Health System Specialist. Commissioned as a Medical Service Corps Officer in the U.S. Army, he managed recruiting and manpower distribution within the health services command. After active duty, he served as Director of Facilities and Operations at Advent Health, overseeing compliance across multiple departments.

Patterson holds a Master of Health Service Administration from Armstrong Atlantic State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing Management from Savannah State University. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the National Association of Health Services Executives.
