When your loved one is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Morehouse General Hospital, the staff understands how overwhelming and stressful it can be. Sometimes a patient’s stay in the ICU is planned; sometimes it is quite unexpected. Whatever condition or event, ICU patients all require intensive treatment, monitoring and support that is only available in an ICU setting.
Morehouse General also understands how much you want to be there for your loved one. You are an important member of the ICU team and can help in your loved one’s recovery just by visiting them. Sometimes, visiting a loved one who is critically ill is not easy. Members of the ICU staff recognize your contribution to the team and the importance of your visits to the patient’s well-being. Visiting hours play an integral role in an ICU for both patients and health care providers.
ICU Visitation Hours
- 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Only two (2) people are allowed to visit at one time during the allowed visiting period.
No children under the age of twelve (12) years old are allowed to visit the ICU. (If end of life care is being provided this will be at the discretion of the ICU Nurse and physician.)
At the request of the patient or Healthcare Representative, a minister may visit at any time.
At any time, the nurse may ask a visitor to step out if a medical procedure needs to be done or if an emergency arises.
It is at the discretion of the nurse to reduce or increase the allowed visitation time based on the patient’s condition.
PEC/CEC patients are not allowed visitors at any time.
Cell phones are to be turned off while visiting the ICU. No photos or videos are to be taken in ICU at any time.
