Labor & Delivery

Morehouse General Hospital has proudly served residents of Northeast Louisiana and Southeast Arkansas since 1930. Delivering babies is one of the things that we do best. We love bringing new babies into the world at Morehouse General Hospital, and we are committed to providing quality health care for mother and baby before, during, and after birth.

Our Special Delivery Unit delivers over 400 newborns a year. We offer private rooms that are spacious enough for family members to visit. Each room is fully-equipped with the most up-to-date monitoring equipment to ensure the safety of your newborn. All of our staff is trained in fetal heart monitoring and neonatal resuscitation.

After you have delivered your baby, your newborn will be placed skin-to-skin to assist with bonding and rooming-in is encouraged. The newborn nursery offers large viewing windows and fully trained staff to care for your infant 24/7.

Our staff is fully trained to provide lactation assistance should you choose to breastfeed. Breastfeeding offers significant benefits for both mothers and babies.

We offer a variety of classes in Prepared Childbirth, Postpartum and Newborn Care, and Breastfeeding.
