Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a science-driven, evidence-based profession that helps people of all ages to recover from injury, disability or illness and participate in activities of daily living. For example, they might help young children with disabilities participate fully in school or support older adults coping with physical or cognitive decline.

Sherry Canal, LOTR/CHT, Director of Rehab

Sherry graduated from Northeast Louisiana University in 1995 with her Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy. She worked in both inpatient and outpatient therapy clinics, and achieved her certification in Hand Therapy in 2007. As a CHT, Sherry worked for North Louisiana Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic from July 2011- August 2020. She furthered her education and graduated with her Master's degree in Health Administration from LSUS in 2019. To advance her career, Sherry accepted the position as the Director of Rehab at Morehouse General Hospital in August 2020. Her goal in this position is to build a strong and dedicated team of therapists to care for patients in the Bastrop community and surrounding areas.
